Health Action

ADPP-GB has worked in the health area since 2011 to reduce sexually transmitted diseases in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, organisations and contributing partners.

The Health Action will increase knowledge about sexual reproductive health, Family Planning, Harmful Practices, Sexually transmitted diseases and Gender Violence. 

The Health Action aims for the youth to gain trust in the established health system and so they will more often seek support to avoid HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancies.

This Project started in April 2022 and ended in December 2022, mainly implemented in Bissau, Bafata, Gabu, Tombali and Quinara Regions.

The Project goals were improvements in youth health. Sexual Reproductive Health and family planning sessions were held for 4.818 youth in 320 schools. Promotion of Sexual Reproductive Health and reduction of stigma, 379 door-to-door sessions were conducted, reaching out to 5.069 people.

The project team mobilized 42 teachers, 28 health personnel, youth associations, and community leaders in the campaign to improve the health of youth by reducing HIV, sexually transmitted diseases, and unplanned pregnancies and to increase the use of the official health system.

The project team and the youth organizations reached the planned goal for 2022. In addition, including the youth organizations increased the implementation as they were trained and active in the program.

The activities were supported by UNFPA , Italian Cooperation and Humana People to People partners.

During the years different partners has supported the Guinean people in Health matters and 

ADPP-GB has during the years worked in supporting the communities in:

  • Disease prevention and health program to Stop the spread of the EBOLA virus
  • TCE – Total Control of the Epidemic – HIV programs
  • Malaria prevention
  • HIV/TB program
  • Identify women with Obstetric-Fistula
  • Sexual reproductive health
  • Information and prevention of the ZIKA virus
  • General Health practices and support of the Community Health Workers
