The TCE Guinea-Bissau program is a unique four-year program that started in October 2018 and will end in September 2022. It is divided into four phases (years). The first phase(year)was carried out in Bissau and it still continues until the end of the program. The second-year saw an expansion of the program to other regions such as Oio (Mansoa sector), Gabu (Gabu City), Quinara (Buba sector). The program has four main components namely (i) Prevention, (ii) Testing, (iii) Care &Treatment, and (iv) Laboratory facility improvement.
In October 2022 a new four- year project started with the same purpose and builds on good practices and lesson learned. The project is supported financially and technically by DHAPP (US Department of Defence HIV/AIDS Prevention Program) and Humana People to People partners.
Guinea Bissau is a high HIV-TB burdened country. In 2020 there was a 12% of increase in people diagnosed with HIV infection and TB. Basic trust is needed to minimise stigma and discrimination for caring for the sick and weak in the society.
That is why ADPP-GB project leaders involve the whole community and families together in all project activities and has health as transversal element.
The project is supported by DHAPP (US Department of Defence HIV/AIDS Prevention Program) and Humana People to People partners.
